You had me at Goomy 🥹
Back in 2014–2015, the Pokémon Art Academy competition invited fans across Japan to create original Pokémon artwork using nothing but a Nintendo 3DS and submit it through Miiverse.
10 winning illustrations were selected, and each artist received a personal print run of just 100 copies of their card, making them some of the rarest fan-created Pokémon cards ever released.
Today, these PSA 10 copies have reached incredible prices:
• Maruyama Raincoat Pikachu — $564,000 (POP 7)
• Business Suit Pikachu — $444,000 (POP 18)
• Gourgeist — $233,000 (POP 16)
• Fujishima Raincoat Pikachu — $161,000 (POP 56)
• Goomy — $102,000 (POP 24)
Not bad for artwork that started on a Nintendo 3DS.
